2010 Pouilly-Fuisse 'Les Trois Terroirs', Domaine Cheveau (France/Macon)

A small, 60+ year old family run Domaine that as far as I can tell makes some of the finest Chardonnay in the area.  I have tasted more expensive selections from top Domaines, but his wine is one that just sticks for its style, length and balance.  It comes from 25-40 year old vines, which aren't super old but old enough to push the concentration of flavors, plus an extended aging is just building depth.  Trois Terroirs refers to the fact that the vineyard sources are from three vineyards, two in the village of Pouilly, with an additional location in Fuisse.

The 2010 Pouilly-Fuisse Les Terroirs, Domaine Cheveau, has a leesey, creamy, brulee tainted nose.  Delicate apple and white peach flavors with a juicy structure.  Finish is dry and elegant with notes of wet, chalky stones.  Sugar-cookie dough flavors linger through to the finish.  Definite old world levels of acid, but there is so much concentration of flavors that a Cali Chardonnay drinker could get into this one.  Length on the finish and lingering of concentrated flavors is just lovely.  about $32, or so.
