2009 Savigny-Les-Beaune, Domaine Edmund Cornu (France/Burgundy)
Domaine Edmund Cornu is an
historic domaine, with the family ownership dating back to the late 1800s. More recent acquisitions have allowed for the addition of high quality parcels, but this Savigny-Les-Beaune is a great example of the village. Very limited production and even less imported to the US - about 100 cases, only available.
Great
color in this wine, deep and full, but you can still see through it as you
should with proper Pinot Noir. Nose is really pretty and inviting
with dark fruits aromas that
show somewhere between concentration and subtle decadence;
earth and fruit. The flavors on the palate include lead pencil,
chalk, and more dark berries and plums and cherries. Med acid adds a
great structure to the overall feel and brings excellent balance between the
front and the back. Finish has round, smooth tannins. Beautiful
drinking wine. About $35, or so.
